January 29th, 1909 – On This Day In Sioux Falls History, Sioux Falls lost an up and coming national renowned hometown author. Today local author William Lillibridge died of tuberculosis at just 31 years old. His historic classics include a steamy romance set in and written in Sioux Falls, SD titled “The Dissolving Circle.”

Williams other works include Ben Blair: The Story of a Plainsman, Where the Trail Divides, and The Dominant Dollar. Ben Blair and Where the Trail Divides would both be made into silent western pictures after Lillibridge’s death. Both stories surely have enough drama to fit right in, in Hollywood. There are marriages, divorces, re-marriages, murders, and unfaithful spouses a plenty!
It seems William was ahead of his time!
